Kraton and SABIC to produce renewable copolymers in Europe

Biobased

France – An international sustainable producer of specialty polymers and high-value biobased products, Kraton Corporation collaborates with SABIC to produce ISCC PLUS Certified renewable Styrenic Block Copolymers (SBC) in Berre, France.

The new ISCC PLUS Certified renewable CirKular+ ReNew Series from Kraton adds to the company’s already extensive line of circular economy-focused products.

Renewable products

Customers can use the mass balance approach and adopt ISCC PLUS certification to produce renewable products with up to 70% certified renewable content in the Renew Series. As part of SABIC’s TRUCIRCLETM portfolio of circular solutions, Kraton produced CirKular+ ReNew Series HSBCs at the Berre plant earlier this year using SABIC’s renewable butadiene.

Because it is derived from second-generation renewable feedstocks such as tall oil from paper pulping processes, SABIC’s certified renewable butadiene is free of animal products and palm oil. This means it is not a direct competitor with human food or animal feed.
