Jan Remeysen (BASF): ‘This is not technology neutral’

Hydrogen Summit

EIES23 – ‘We are in a storm, a perfect storm. In this case it’s not positive. The European chemical industry is confronted with increasing raw material and energy prices. For us natural gas is a raw material! Second topic is legislation.’ Watch the talk of Jan Remeysen (CEO BASF Antwerp) at EIES23.

Remeysen: ‘Europe shouldn’t stop describing what to do, but Europe has a strong tendency to tell us how we have to do it. For example: green hydrogen. Target by 2030: 42 percent green hydrogen… This is not technology neutral. Better would be; by 2030 42 percent reduction of the carbonfootprint of your hydrogen. Then we can do it together. En everybody is happy.
