Battery Energy Storage System

EDF selected by Gore Street Energy Storage Fund for 80MW BESS optimization

Energy Storage

United Kingdom – Gore Street Energy Storage Fund (GSF), has taken a step towards advancing sustainable energy by partnering with EDF, the foremost zero-carbon electricity generator in Britain.

The collaboration aims to optimize an 80MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) using EDF’s cutting-edge Powershift platform. This move underscores GSF’s commitment to facilitating the energy transition through the strategic deployment of energy storage technologies.

The partnership

The signing of this agreement marks the third partnership between GSF and EDF, cementing EDF’s position as the preferred trading and optimization partner for GSF’s energy storage ventures. EDF currently oversees the trading and optimization for two existing BESS assets – the 20MW Lascar and 20MW Hulley projects. With over 950MW of battery optimization contracts already inked, EDF has solidified its stature as a leading provider of route-to-market services for storage developers and investors.

Multiple revenue streams

The collaboration will leverage EDF’s industry expertise and market acumen to unlock a diverse range of revenue streams for GSF’s Stony BESS. These streams encompass the Balancing Mechanism, wholesale optimization, and ancillary services. By tapping into EDF’s proven trading proficiency, GSF anticipates enhanced operational efficiency and revenue generation potential for the Stony BESS.

GSF is no newcomer to the battery storage landscape. With an impressive operational portfolio boasting close to 110MW of installed capacity across four international energy markets, GSF stands as a frontrunner among battery operators. This partnership with EDF underscores GSF’s forward-thinking approach and steadfast commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
