Liquid Wind and partners plan 10 eMethanol plants by 2027

Energy

Sweden – Liquid Wind, in collaboration with Alfa Laval, Carbon Clean, Siemens Energy, and Topsoe, has unveiled ambitious plans to accelerate eFuel production.

The partnership, initiated in 2020, now includes the development and marketing of 10 additional eMethanol facilities in the Nordics by 2027. This strategic move builds on the success of FlagshipONE, the world’s first commercial-scale eMethanol facility, and aims to establish 80 standardized 100,000 tons eMethanol units by 2030. The collective goal is to reduce CO2 emissions by an estimated 14 million tons per annum, primarily targeting hard-to-abate industries like global shipping.

10 Core eMethanol Plants

The expanded commitment involves enhancing production efficiency to introduce 10 Core eMethanol Plants (CMP) before the end of 2027. These units are expected to play a crucial role in the global eMethanol market and contribute significantly to emissions reduction in industries facing decarbonization challenges.

The partnership emphasizes the delivery of industry-leading eMethanol facilities that boast accelerated fabrication, transport, construction, and commissioning processes. This efficiency is achieved through the collaborative integration of innovative technologies and modular solutions provided by the partners.
