First pile for Air Liquide plant in the ground

Energy efficiency

The Netherlands – Air Liquide’s new air separation plant in Moerdijk must be operational by the summer of 2022. The first pile has already been driven. The plant will be located south of the Shell Moerdijk site.

Air Liquide is investing 125 million euros in the construction of the plant, whose energy consumption will be ten percent lower than that of comparable plants. Moreover, the air separation unit helps to stabilise the electricity grid. If there is a peak load on the energy network, the new installation can temporarily reduce energy consumption. The production of oxygen will remain the same.
