The Netherlands and UAE collaborate on hydrogen use

Hydrogen

The Netherlands/UAE – To work together on decarbonizing the energy sector and increasing the use of hydrogen, the UAE signed a deal with the Netherlands.

Ministers Suhail Al Mazrouei and Liesje Schreinemacher from the UAE and the Netherlands signed a preliminary agreement at the Expo 2020 site in Dubai.

As part of the Joint Economic Committee, the UAE and the Netherlands have been discussing ways to find common ground and form a partnership to decarbonize the energy sector. This includes the creation of an export-import corridor between the two countries, as well as a gateway to the rest of Europe.

Net-zero emissions

Agreement with Netherlands will also support the Paris Climate Accords and help both countries achieve net-zero emissions. A 95 percent reduction in emissions by 2050 is the goal of the Netherlands, while the United Arab Emirates is working toward a net-zero ecosystem by 2050.
