Plug Power, Lhyfe to develop green hydrogen plants in Europe

Hydrogen

Europe Plug Power and Lhyfe have established a collaboration to pursue and develop green hydrogen production plants across Europe.

The plan aims to create a total capacity of 300MW of hydrogen by 2025, as well as to begin the building of a 1GW manufacturing site.

The arrangement expands on the working partnership that the two companies formed earlier this year. Plug Power’s hydrogen electrolyzer technology will provide 1MW of capacity to the world’s first offshore hydrogen production facility, developed by Lhyfe and powered by electricity generated by a floating wind turbine off the coast of Le Croisic, at SEM-REV, Centrale Nantes’ offshore test site, which will be operational by 2022.

As part of the partnership, Plug Power and Lhyfe will look into prospects to jointly develop green hydrogen generation plants across Europe, using cutting-edge PEM electrolysis technology and renewable energy sources. The new venture will focus on on-road and off-road transportation applications.

Finally, the two companies will contemplate collaborating to co-develop an offshore wind electrolyzer plant in the United States.
