Lhyfe plans hydrogen production project in UK

Hydrogen

United Kingdom – Lhyfe has set its sights on North Tyneside, UK, for its pioneering hydrogen production project.

The company’s approach involves water electrolysis, splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen, with the sole by-product being oxygen.

The decision to establish a plant in North Tyneside follows the launch of Lhyfe’s UK subsidiary in Newcastle 18 months ago. The company aims to cater to the rising demand from industries seeking to reduce their reliance on natural gas and fossil fuels. Lhyfe aspires to become a major supplier to energy-intensive industries and transportation in the UK, contributing to energy security and unlocking new economic opportunities.

Offshore hydrogen production potential

Lhyfe’s vision extends beyond conventional hydrogen production, with plans to explore offshore hydrogen production in the UK.

The proposed plant in Wallsend, occupying 4 acres of industrial-zoned land along the River Tyne, signifies Lhyfe’s commitment to sustainable development. The project has garnered support from Shepherd Offshore, a prominent UK service provider with over 40 years of experience.

Lhyfe’s planning application for the Wallsend plant will be submitted to North Tyneside Council in the spring, with ongoing community engagement efforts.
