Port of Skagen and Stillstrom lead maritime decarbonization

Sustainable energy

Denmark – Port of Skagen and Stillstrom by Maersk have forged a strategic alliance aimed at decarbonizing the anchorage zone of Port of Skagen, a critical hub in Northern Europe’s maritime landscape.

Skagen Anchorage, renowned as one of Northern Europe’s busiest maritime hubs, has long grappled with the environmental ramifications of vessel emissions. With over 3800 vessel stops annually, emitting an average of 66,000 tonnes of CO2, the urgency to adopt sustainable practices has never been more apparent.

By integrating offshore power and charging solutions into Skagen Anchorage, the partners aim to revolutionize maritime operations, reducing emissions and minimizing environmental impact.

Maritime decarbonization

As Port of Skagen and Stillstrom embark on this transformative journey, they set a precedent for the maritime industry at large. Through joint exploration and innovation, they pave the way for a more sustainable and efficient maritime sector, demonstrating that environmental responsibility and economic growth can go hand in hand.
