Fugro completes initial vessel conversion to green methanol fuel

Sustainable energy

The Netherlands – Fugro is converting its vessel, the Fugro Pioneer, to be powered by methanol engines.

The primary goal of Fugro’s methanol conversion initiative is to drastically reduce carbon emissions associated with marine operations. By utilizing green methanol as a fuel, Fugro aims to achieve emissions reductions of over 90% compared to conventional diesel, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.

Sustainable marine propulsion

The conversion of the Fugro Pioneer’s main components to accommodate methanol engines represents a leap forward in sustainable marine propulsion technology. Green methanol, derived from renewable sources, offers a cleaner alternative to traditional fossil fuels, making it an attractive option for environmentally conscious shipping operations.

By opting for green methanol as a fuel, clients can reduce their carbon footprint while maintaining operational efficiency, thus meeting sustainability requirements in offshore tenders.
