Poland – Renewable energy giant Vestas is set to bolster its position in the offshore wind sector with the announcement of plans to establish a new blade factory in Szczecin, Poland.
The newly proposed blade factory in Szczecin is slated to manufacture blades for Vestas’ flagship offshore wind turbine, the V236-15.0 MW. Operations are expected to start in 2026, generating over 1,000 direct job opportunities.
This announcement follows Vestas’ earlier declaration about the establishment of an assembly factory for offshore nacelles in Szczecin, adding to the company’s manufacturing footprint and potentially creating more than 1,700 direct jobs by 2026.
Strategic location
The selected site for the new offshore blade factory, acquired by Vestas in February 2023, is strategically positioned in northern Szczecin, adjacent to the planned nacelle assembly factory on Ostrów Brdowski Island. The assembly factory is scheduled to begin operations in 2025, creating 700 direct jobs.
This move is anticipated to play a pivotal role in bolstering Poland’s position in the European offshore wind market and industry. With these additions, Vestas is poised to employ over 2,500 people in Poland, further solidifying its commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
