Vattenfall buys two offshore wind projects in Sweden

Renewables

Sweden – Vattenfall is buying the majority of Zephyr’s shares in two offshore wind projects off the coast of Gothenburg.

The projects are expected to generate 10.5 TWh of fossil-free electricity per year once fully developed. The Vidar and Poseidon wind farms are located between 25 and 27 kilometers off the coast of Sweden, north of Gothenburg. Vattenfall will own 85 percent of the company after the acquisition.

Permits

The early-stage projects will be further developed with Zephyr, and the necessary permits for establishment will be applied for. Vidar and Poseidon, which will primarily be made up of floating wind turbines, are expected to have a combined capacity of 2.8 GW and produce 10.5 TWh per year.
