Kallista Energy’s wind farm to power Lhyfe’s green hydrogen production

Hydrogen Renewables

France – Kallista Energy has inked a long-term corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with Lhyfe, marking a significant step toward achieving sustainability goals, as it intertwines wind-generated electricity and hydrogen production.

The CPPA between Kallista Energy and Lhyfe extends over 15 years, providing a robust foundation for the production and supply of green electricity. For Kallista Energy, this agreement enables bank financing to repower an aging wind park with the latest-generation turbines. The repowered Brachy wind park, located in Seine-Maritime, France, will become operational in the summer of 2024.

Repowered wind farm

This wind park, initially equipped with five wind turbines and nearing its 17th year of operation, will be rejuvenated with more efficient technology. The new configuration will allow it to generate 70% more electricity with the same number of turbines. The repowered wind park will house five Vestas V126 wind turbines, boasting a total capacity of 15 MW and producing 46 GWh of renewable electricity annually.

What sets this deal apart is that the entire output of the Brachy wind park will be dedicated to powering Lhyfe’s green and renewable hydrogen production sites. This alignment holds the promise of significantly contributing to the decarbonization of mobility and industries that traditionally rely on fossil fuels or carbon-derived hydrogen.
