Enova’s investment fuels Norway’s GoliatVIND project

Renewables

Norway – Enova has allocated a staggering 2 billion NOK to the GoliatVIND project. This venture entails the development of a floating wind farm, poised to supply clean power to the Hammerfest region in northern Norway via the Goliat platform.

With a planned capacity of 75 MW, facilitated by five 15 MW turbines, the project aims to generate approximately 320 GWh of electricity annually. This substantial output is anticipated to cater to the energy needs of approximately 12,000 Norwegian households, significantly reducing reliance on traditional fossil fuel sources. The GoliatVIND project integrates turbines with floating platforms, enabling efficient energy capture in challenging marine environments.

Collaboration and support

By harnessing the power of offshore wind, the initiative holds the potential to catalyze broader socio-economic and environmental benefits. The project’s contribution to renewable energy expansion aligns with Norway’s ambitious climate goals and underscores its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The commendable support extended by Norwegian Climate and Environment Minister Andreas Bjelland Eriksen and Energy Minister Terje Aasland underscores the government’s commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives. Moreover, collaboration between industry leaders, including NorthWind partner organization Odfjell Oceanwind, Source Galileo, and Kansai Electric Power Company, demonstrates the collective resolve to drive innovation and sustainability in the energy sector.
