New fuel cell order for ZeroAvia hydrogen flights

Hydrogen

SwedenAviation start-up ZeroAvia has placed SEK 5.1 million order with PowerCell Sweden for MS-100 fuel cell systems.

This is the second order PowerCell received from ZeroAvia, and the delivery is expected during the second and third quarter 2021.

World’s first commercial hydrogen electric flight

ZeroAvia conducted the world’s first hydrogen electric flight of a commercial airplane in September last year. The plane, a single-engine six-seater Piper Malibu, carried out an eight-minute flight and reached an altitude of 1,000 feet and a speed of 100 knots. The plane had a hydrogen-electric powertrain where an PowerCell MS-100 fuel cell system was an integral part.

The company now continues the development of zero emissions aircraft drivetrains by placing a follow-on order for further MS-100 fuel cell systems.
