Iverson eFuels and ECOnnect Energy partner on green ammonia in Norway

Hydrogen

Norway – Iverson eFuels and ECOnnect Energy have joined forces to explore a pioneering jettyless solution for transferring green ammonia. This innovative project, named Iverson Ammonia, aims to unlock the potential of green ammonia as a carbon-neutral fuel and energy storage medium, contributing to global climate goals.

The partnership between Iverson eFuels and ECOnnect Energy has set its sights on revolutionizing the way ammonia is transferred for maritime use. Iverson eFuels, a joint venture encompassing Hy2Gen, CIP, and Trafigura, is propelling a Norwegian-based green ammonia project centered around large-scale electrolysis and renewable electricity utilization.

Located southeast of Sauda in Rogaland, Norway, the Iverson Ammonia Project is poised to catalyze the transition towards a sustainable energy ecosystem.

IQuay C-Class

ECOnnect Energy, renowned for its innovative transfer systems, introduces the IQuay C-Class for ammonia transfer, a groundbreaking jettyless solution. This game-changing technology enables seamless and safe ammonia transfer to ships, heralding a new era of flexibility and efficiency in the maritime industry.

To refine and enhance the IQuay C-Class solution for the Iverson Ammonia Project, ECOnnect Energy will conduct a pre-FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) study. This collaboration signifies a crucial step towards making green ammonia export a reality.

At its core, the Iverson Ammonia Project strives to contribute to climate goals by advancing the adoption of clean and carbon-neutral energy sources. The project encompasses cutting-edge technology for ammonia production, storage, and utilization across diverse sectors. Its mission aligns with the global drive to harness green ammonia as an eco-friendly fuel and energy storage solution.

Project Iverson’s commitment extends beyond technology, engaging the local community and national authorities. By capitalizing on Sauda’s rich industrial history and expertise, the project stands as a beacon of the green industry’s future.

Various applications

ECOnnect Energy’s IQuay system has a proven track record of innovation. Since its groundbreaking LNG transfer in 2017, the IQuay system has evolved for various applications, including green ammonia. This versatile technology facilitates the safe and efficient transfer of LNG, ammonia, hydrogen, and CO2 between supply and storage facilities. Its adaptability to challenging offshore conditions makes it a formidable solution for the green ammonia industry.
