Eurowind Energy acquires green hydrogen plant in Denmark

Hydrogen

Denmark – Eurowind Energy has acquired an operational green hydrogen plant in Hobro, Denmark, from Air Liquide. This purchase is the first step in the company’s plan to enter the power-to-x (PtX) industry and will provide valuable insights into the production of hydrogen, using the excess power from solar and wind.

The HyBalance plant, in Hobro, has been operated by Air Liquide as a demonstration unit since 2018 and features a 1.25MW PEM electrolyser that can produce more than 500kg of hydrogen per day. The asset also includes a hydrogen compression unit, storage facilities, and filling facilities for both tube trailers and smaller transport cylinders.

Eurowind Energy plans to implement the production of hydrogen in its future hybrid parks across Europe. Hybrid parks combine solar and wind power to generate electricity, which can then be used to produce green hydrogen.

The production of green hydrogen has the potential to revolutionize the energy sector and help to address the climate crisis. Green hydrogen is a clean and sustainable fuel that can be used in a variety of applications, including transportation, industry, and energy storage.

PtX industry

Eurowind Energy’s acquisition of the HyBalance plant is a significant development in the European PtX industry. The company plans to produce green hydrogen from excess solar and wind power, which will help to reduce Europe’s reliance on fossil fuels and accelerate the transition to a clean energy future.

The production of green hydrogen will also create jobs and boost the economy. Eurowind Energy plans to hire up to 20 new employees at the HyBalance plant.
