Epinal selects Lhyfe to build hydrogen production site in France

Hydrogen

France – Lhyfe has been chosen by Epinal Urban Community for the construction of a green hydrogen fuel chain scheduled to begin in late 2027, following a consultation process facilitated by the local development organization Vosj’Innove.

For purposes in industry and transportation that are otherwise difficult to decarbonize, Lhyfe plans to construct a facility that produces green and renewable hydrogen.

At production facilities fueled by renewable energy, Lhyfe electrolyzes water to create its green and renewable hydrogen. The company’s first location (Lhyfe Pays de la Loire) has been operational since the second half of 2021, and five further locations are currently being built in France, Germany, and Sweden. In addition, Lhyfe is working on offshore hydrogen production projects. In June 2023, the company’s Sealhyfe prototype system set a world record when it started producing hydrogen at sea off the coast of Le Croisic in the Loire-Atlantique.

Hydrogen production facility

Lhyfe plans to construct and operate a large-scale hydrogen production facility on the grounds of Epinal Urban Community, with an installed capacity of several megawatts. It will provide hydrogen for regional, transnational, and local needs in the Epinal area.

The establishment of a cutting-edge industrial cluster in the Vosges department will be made possible by an environmentally friendly and renewable hydrogen production facility, enhancing the urban community’s industrial and territorial ecology strategy as well as the allure and development of the region. The issuance of operating and building permits, as well as financial investment choices, are prerequisites for the project’s execution.
