Ørsted hires Fugro for Hornsea wind farm site investigations

Renewables

United Kingdom – Ørsted has hired Fugro to do a marine geotechnical site investigation for its Hornsea Three and Hornsea Four offshore wind farm projects.

Hornsea One and Hornsea Two are two of the world’s largest offshore wind farms. This is part of the Hornsea Project, which also includes Hornsea One and Hornsea Two.

Site investigations

From May to August 2022, Fugro will be deploying a number of vessels from its fleet to deal with difficult ground conditions and deliver a Geo-data. Downhole cone penetration testing (CPT), seismic cone penetration testing (SCPT), downhole sampling, high-quality rock coring, and borehole geophysical logging are all part of the detailed site investigations. This will not only allow for reliable and efficient foundation designs, but it will also make the project’s future development phases less risky.
