ABP plans to invest in Dutch offshore wind

Renewables

The Netherlands – ABP, the Netherlands’ largest pension fund, plans to make direct investments in large-scale wind energy generation and management in the North Sea. The Noordzeker collaboration was formed with this purpose in mind. IJmuiden Ver is the first offshore wind farm that Noordzeker will tender.

ABP and Noordzeker will compete for large projects to build wind farms in the North Sea. ABP will collaborate with Noordzeker enterprises, government, social organizations, and knowledge institutes.

IJmuiden Ver

IJmuiden Ver is the first offshore wind farm that Noordzeker will tender. This location is around 60 kilometers off the coast of IJmuiden and 200 kilometers square in size. The government will begin the registration process by the end of 2023. It is expected that the project’s recipient will be revealed in the first half of 2024.

ABP already has a stake in several foreign wind farms, as well as in Dutch wind farms such as Goeree-Overflakkee. ABP also enabled the connection of 1.2 million Dutch homes and companies to fiber optics by investing in the development of Glaspoort in collaboration with KPN. This demonstrates that ABP has extensive experience leading socially responsible projects.
