France – TotalEnergies and SARIA have signed a deal to advance the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at the Grandpuits (Seine-et-Marne) zero-crude platform.
This deal is a significant step in securing feedstock supply suitable for producing SAF and will allow the SAF production capacity to reach 210,000 tons per year, which is 25% greater than anticipated in the initial proposal announced in 2020.
SAF production
A production activity of SARIA supplying animal fat esters to Grandpuits will be split 50/50 between TotalEnergies and SARIA under the terms of this agreement. Even though TotalEnergies will continue to run the Grandpuits biorefinery, SARIA will acquire an equal share of the biofuels division. Used cooking oils will be supplied directly by SARIA as well.
The project requires the permission of the appropriate authorities as well as compliance with the legal process for notifying and consulting the employee representatives of TotalEnergies.
