Germany – DACHSER will only purchase electricity derived from renewable sources starting of January 1, 2022. So, the logistics company, which has 387 facilities in 42 countries, is expanding its use of green power from about 60% to 100%.
The company had already made the move to renewable energy in Germany and the Netherlands. As a first step, DACHSER plans to install and extend photovoltaic panels on the rooftops of its European logistics facilities and office buildings to greatly increase its in-house generation of renewable energy. The present installed capacity will more than treble by 2025, reaching over 20,000 kWp.
Long-term climate protection
DACHSER’s long-term climate protection policy is built on three pillars: efficiency, innovation, and inclusive responsibility. Initiatives taken by the privately held corporation are aimed at streamlining logistics, reducing energy consumption, and developing new technologies. This, according to DACHSER, is the greatest strategy to decrease GHG emissions in keeping with the Paris Agreement’s 2-degree target as well as climate protection goals set by the European Union and many other countries.
To this goal, the company collaborates with clients and partners who are equally eager to actively shape the adoption of low- and zero-emission technology by logistics. Employees at DACHSER are also heavily involved in climate protection operations, and their dedication to society and social issues extends well beyond the company’s direct commercial objectives.
