Since 2018, the Port of Rotterdam has been leveraging VARO’s HVO100 (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), a biofuel derived from sustainable sources. This eco-friendly alternative significantly slashes CO2 emissions by up to 89% compared to conventional diesel fuel, marking a substantial leap towards cleaner maritime operations.

Aligned with its sustainability objectives, the Port of Rotterdam Authority aims to transition towards emission-free vessels by 2025.
