Italy – The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Lazio Region Universities Coordination Committee (CRUL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a new partnership aimed at developing joint research on how to boost renewable energy as a key element in the energy transition.
Bioenergy, geothermal, hydroelectric, ocean, solar, and wind energy will be among the topics studied in the pursuit of sustainable development, energy security, economic growth, and low-carbon prosperity. The CRUL, which is made up of 13 universities, hosts nearly 210.000 students and programs in all fields of knowledge, accounting for 13% of Italy’s total student population, making it the second largest in the country.
Sustainable energy
IRENA and CRUL will collaborate on a number of key areas as a result of this MoU, including studying the use of renewable energy sources in various territorial contexts and conducting research on hydrogen and multi-energy systems; promoting higher education in the field of renewable energy; formulating common policy advice to accelerate the expansion of renewable energy; and facilitating knowledge sharing and technology transfer to provide clean and sustainable energy.
