Cambridge Power and Brookfield Renewables develop battery storage in UK

United Kingdom – Cambridge Power and Brookfield Renewables have signed a Framework Agreement to develop a portfolio of battery energy storage system (BESS) sites across the United Kingdom.

Brookfield Renewable, one of the world’s largest clean energy owners and operators, has agreed to develop more than 800 MW of fully consented BESS assets and 185 MW of co-located solar for investment over the next five years on an exclusive basis. Brookfield will contribute significant capital to the asset portfolio as part of this agreement. This will help the National Grid balance renewable generation during peak demand periods and support the continued growth of renewable energy in the UK.

The assets will be constructed and operated by Cambridge Power, with construction starting in 2022 and energization in 2023.
