Windpark Greenport Venlo commissioned in The Netherlands

Renewables

The Netherlands – The building of the wind turbines at Windpark Greenport Venlo has just been finished. The wind turbines are undergoing testing and will begin test runs prior to being handed over to the owners and providing full power to the grid.

Windpark Greenport Venlo is a collaborative effort by Greenchoice, Windunie, and the ABN AMRO Sustainable Impact Fund. Eight wind turbines make up the wind farm along the train line between Venlo and Horst-Sevenum.

Wind turbines

The German company Nordex provided wind turbines. It pertains to two different types of wind turbines. The N133/4.8 turbines of the Delta4000 series placed north of the A67 have a 4.8 MW capacity, a 134-meter axis height, and a 201-meter tip height. Three N117/3675 turbines with a capacity of 3.6 MW, an axis height of 134 meters, and a tip height of 194 meters will be installed between the A67 and A73.

Each wind turbine will require between one and two weeks to be put into service independently. The trial operation is planned to commence in mid-August, according to the initiators. During the trial operation, both the fixed facility and its shadow will be studied. After the trial operation concludes, the wind turbines will be examined and inspected prior to their formal handover and the wind farm’s full connection to the electrical grid.
