Vattenfall gets Norfolk Boreas offshore wind farm contract

Renewables

United Kingdom – Vattenfall has been awarded contracts for the Norfolk Boreas offshore wind farm, the first phase of Vattenfall’s Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone and one of the world’s largest offshore wind zones.

In this initial phase, Norfolk Boreas will procure enough renewable electricity to power roughly 1.5 million UK homes. The CfD scheme, which awards successful CfD bidders a contract for a 15-year fixed revenue stream, is the primary policy tool used in the UK to support low-carbon electricity generation.

Final investment decisions

Utilizing cutting-edge offshore wind technology and world-class design, including a coordinated grid connection, wind farms in the Norfolk Zone are intended to provide low cost, renewable electricity to homes and businesses throughout the UK.

The Norfolk Boreas Offshore Wind Farm is the first stage of Vattenfall’s Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone, coming before the Norfolk Vanguard offshore wind farm, with construction set to start early the following year. The Norfolk Zone, one of the largest offshore wind zones in the world, will eventually produce enough renewable electricity to power more than four million homes. The Vattenfall Board of Directors will still need to make the final investment decisions regarding the projects.
