United KingdomVattenfall won the Crown Estate Scotland’s ScotWind offshore leasing round with their partner Fred. Olsen Seawind.

67 kilometres off the east coast of Scotland, the 50/50 partnership has been granted the rights to develop an offshore wind farm site in support of Scotland’s net zero goals to deliver 11 GW of offshore wind power by 2030.

As a result, construction on a project with a maximum capacity of 798 MW, enough to power over 700,000 UK homes, can begin. Europe’s leading renewable energy developers and their ability to provide innovative solutions to the challenges of floating offshore wind, generating manufacturing and fabrication opportunities locally as well as increasing long-term sustainable employment and value creation are brought together in this project.
