Renewables

United KingdomThe Triton Knoll offshore wind farm’s turbine commissioning has been completed successfully.

RWE built the UK wind farm on behalf of the project partners and it was completed on schedule.

Triton Knoll will be one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms when it is fully operational, generating 857 MW of power. The 90 wind turbines will be fully operational in the first quarter of 2022, when the tower will stand at 164 meters high. Energy generated by Triton Knoll is expected to meet the needs of approximately 800,000 households in the United Kingdom each year.

The total cost of the project, which includes the wind farm and the grid connection, is approximately $2 billion. Jointly owned by RWE, J-Power and Kansai Electric Power is Triton Knoll (16 percent ). Wind farm development, construction, and operation will be handled by RWE on behalf of the project’s other participants.

The Triton Knoll Operations & Maintenance base is being expanded to become the new ‘Grimsby Hub’ facility, which will support both existing and future RWE-operated wind projects in the region. As many as 60 new, local jobs and additional support jobs will be created by this new facility.
