Poland – TotalEnergies and KGHM have formed a partnership to compete in the Polish government’s tender for the development of offshore wind projects on a 50/50 basis.
In order to take advantage of the Baltic Sea’s strong potential for wind power generation due to favorable weather conditions, the government has launched a new auction scheme covering 11 areas in the Polish Baltic Sea, with an expected total capacity of over 10 GW.
The partnership will capitalize on both companies’ strengths. TotalEnergies will rely on its expertise in offshore operations, large-scale project management experience, and global supply chain connections. As a major Polish state-owned corporation, KGHM will bring its market knowledge to the table.
If one or more wind farms are awarded, the partners will mobilize all available resources to develop these projects to the highest standards and delivery times, with a high level of local content, boosting local industry, creating jobs in Poland, and contributing to the supply of green electricity at a competitive price.
