United Kingdom – SSE Renewables and Acciona, the leading Spanish producer of renewable energy, owner and operator, have signed a 50/50 JV exclusivity deal to join the developing Spanish and Portuguese offshore wind markets.
Spain and Portugal have also set net zero emissions goals for 2050 and are two of Europe’s leading clean energy countries in terms of resources installed to date and potential ambitions. An offshore wind plan is scheduled to be issued by the Spanish Government this year.
Joint Venture
Together, SSE Renewables and Acciona will set up a JV with experience in the development, construction and operation of offshore wind and broader renewable energy sources, as well as in the Iberian market and regulatory environment. The exclusivity deal between SSE Renewables and Acciona also provides scope for the joint exploitation of other offshore wind markets outside Spain and Portugal.
