Sweden Siemens Gamesa has signed a supply agreement for the 260MW Stor-Skälsjön project in central Sweden with Eolus and Hydro REIN.

Eolus has now signed contracts totaling just over 450MW as they continue their efforts to promote an energy transition in the Nordic region. There is a 49 percent stake in the project owned by Hydro REIN.

In Timra and Sundsvall municipalities, the project is scheduled for installation in 2023 and will use 42 SG 6.6-170 turbines to provide a competitive Levelized Cost of Energy for the project. Towers with a height of 115 meters to 123 meters will be used for this purpose.. There was also an agreement for 25 years of full-scope service to ensure optimal performance of the turbines.

More than 3.5GW of deals have been signed since the launch of the Siemens Gamesa 5.X platform, with Sweden leading the way with more than 1.5GW of sales of this technology.

Sweden’s use of wind power continues to grow. Swedish Wind Energy Association estimates that the country will have over 12GW of installed capacity by the end of 2021 and over 17GW by 2024, making it the country’s second largest source of electricity at that time.
