Shell bids for offshore wind in Polish Baltic Sea

Poland – As part of the latest government tender, Amber Baltic Wind, a wholly owned subsidiary of Shell, submitted proposals for new offshore wind locations in the Polish Baltic Sea zone.

The sites selected for the tender will contribute to Poland’s goal of installing 11 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2040. According to WindEurope, the Polish portion of the Baltic Sea could host up to 28 GW of offshore wind by 2050.

Creating jobs

Shell has also signed the Polish Offshore Wind Sector Deal, which aims to increase local content in the supply chain supporting offshore wind farm construction and operation. By 2040, the wind industry in Poland will have created up to 60,000 direct and indirect jobs, according to the Sector Deal.
