United Kingdom – RIDG and its joint venture partners Corio Generation and TotalEnergies have now finalized the Option to Lease Agreement for the West of Orkney wind farm with Crown Estate Scotland.
It is the culmination of RIDG’s over five years of work on the site and provides the security required for the project team to focus on development activities.
Renewable energy by 2029
In the ScotWind leasing round, announced in January 2022, the West of Orkney wind farm joint venture partners secured rights to develop the 2 GW project. The wind farm will be built 30 kilometers off the west coast of Orkney, Scotland.
The wind farm, which aims to start producing renewable energy by 2029, could cost more than £4 billion to build.
