Repsol and Ørsted join forces for floating wind in Spain

Spain – Repsol and Ørsted have joined forces to develop floating offshore wind energy in Spain.

Floating offshore wind is nearing commercialization after several years of concept development and small-scale testing, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance. The global floating offshore wind market is expected to reach 21 GW of installed capacity by 2035. By 2030, Spain wants to have 3 GW of floating offshore wind.

Repsol’s strategy

Repsol’s decarbonization strategy includes renewable energy generation as one of its pillars. The company recently increased its 2030 installed capacity targets to 20 GW, a 60% increase over the previous target. Installed capacity will reach 6 GW by 2025.
