Germany, Sweden, Finland – Luxcara, an independent renewable energy asset manager, and Agder Energi, a Norwegian energy firm, have signed a physical long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for a portion of the output of a wind power portfolio in Sweden and Finland.
Luxcara is working with Agder Energi to supply fossil-free electricity to Boliden AB’s mining and smelting activities in Sweden and Finland by combining wind and hydro power. Boliden has significant proposals for electrification and the reduction of the use of fossil fuels in industrial manufacturing and transportation.
Total capacity more than 900MW
Wind schemes in Sweden and Finland are expected to have a combined capacity of more than 900 MW. The PPA includes a large portion of the portfolio’s wind output, assisting Boliden in meeting its target of reducing carbon dioxide intensity by 40% by 2030.
