Dutch Heerema selected by Equinor and bp for US wind projects

United States – Equinor and bp have chosen Heerema Marine Contractors as a strategic supplier for the Empire Wind and Beacon Wind projects.

The companies intend to enter into a Strategic Supplier Agreement for the transportation and installation of wind farm foundations and offshore substations for East Coast projects in the United States.

This agreement will cover the Empire Wind and Beacon Wind wind farms for a fixed seven-year period. During this time, Equinor, bp as a 50 percent joint venture partner, and Heerema will work as exclusive partners on the project preparation and Jones Act compliance. Heerema and Equinor will work together to maximize the economic benefits that the projects can bring to New York State communities.

Empire and Beacon Wind

Equinor and bp are working together to develop Empire Wind and Beacon Wind. Throughout the project’s development, construction, and operations, Equinor will serve as the operator. Empire Wind and Beacon Wind, respectively, will generate 2.1 GW and 1.2 GW of renewable offshore wind power for households in New York and the Northeastern United States.
