The Netherlands/France – SBM Offshore and Technip Energies have entered into a landmark collaboration aimed at advancing the field of Floating Offshore Wind (FOW).
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the companies marks the formation of a new joint venture entity, EkWiL, dedicated to innovative solutions in the FOW market. The primary goal of EkWiL is to emerge as a leading contractor in the development of floating offshore wind infrastructures.
Integrating knowledge and capabilities
EkWiL will leverage the collective knowledge and capabilities of both partners to develop and commercialize two leading-edge technologies: Technip Energies’ Semi-submersible INO15 by T.EN and SBM Offshore’s Tension Leg Platform Float4Wind. These innovative solutions are poised to revolutionize the floating offshore wind market by enhancing execution certainty, cost competitiveness, and scalability of offshore wind projects.
By harnessing the synergies between SBM Offshore and Technip Energies, EkWiL aims to accelerate the adoption of floating offshore wind technologies, paving the way for the widespread deployment of clean, renewable energy solutions. Through EkWiL, the companies are poised to play a pivotal role in driving the transition towards a low-carbon economy.
