Sweden – Vattenfall has completed the Vesterhav Syd offshore wind farm, delivering fossil-free energy to approximately 170,000 Danish households.
The Vesterhav Syd wind farm, comprising 20 turbines, has now seamlessly connected to the Danish power grid. The turbines were erected from July to September the previous year, and on November 10, 2023, Vattenfall delivered the first power from the farm. Since then, the turbines have been systematically linked to the grid, culminating in the wind farm’s 100% completion.
Historical tender win in 2016
Vattenfall secured the tender for Vesterhav Syd in 2016 with a historically low strike price of 47.5 Danish รธre per kWh, showcasing the company’s commitment to cost-effective and sustainable energy solutions.
Vattenfall is also operating the Vesterhav Nord offshore wind farm, located approximately 80 kilometers from the southern twin, Vesterhav Syd. The plan is to connect Vesterhav Nord to the grid in the first quarter of this year. Together, the Vesterhav Syd and Vesterhav Nord offshore wind farms will generate fossil-free electricity equivalent to the consumption of more than 350,000 Danish households, marking a significant stride towards Denmark’s green energy goals.
