Poland – RWE is expanding its renewables portfolio in Poland: the Polish Energy Regulatory Office awarded the company Contract for Difference (CfD) awards for solar projects with a total capacity of more than 20 megawatts at the end of December.
West Pomerania and Greater Poland are home to nine photovoltaic (PV) plants with a total capacity of around 7 MWac. In Lower Silesia, two more mid-size solar projects with a total capacity of 14 MWac will be installed. Commissioning is scheduled for late 2023, pending the final investment decision.
The Polish PV Sector Deal, a joint agreement between the Polish government, developers, associations, and industry players from across the entire solar supply chain, was recently signed by RWE. All parties agree to support the development, construction, and operation of PV projects in Poland as a result of this agreement. RWE’s ambition to aggressively expand its Polish solar business, as well as its strong wind presence, is based on this.
RWE is currently constructing 42 ground-mounted PV plants in Poland, with a total capacity of 32 MWac. A total of 29 MWac will be added to the construction pipeline this year. To expand its Polish solar business, the company is looking for suitable locations all over the country.
