The Netherlands – Anesco has completed the installation of three solar farms in The Netherlands for Shell Renewables and Energy Solutions.
The first is a 12MWp array located on the site of a former gas works in Emmen, in the province of Drenthe in the northeastern Netherlands. It was completed in tandem with the construction of a 14MWp solar farm near the town of Heerenveen in the province of Friesland by Anesco’s EPC team. The third project is a 30MWp solar installation in Sas Van Gent, Zeeland, on a former industrial site.
Sustainable boost
Each solar farm benefits from an advanced biodiversity plan, which is designed to have the greatest ecological impact on local wildlife while also providing habitat for some of the most endangered species. Furthermore, waste from all three solar farm sites has been recycled, with the proceeds donated to two charities near the solar farms. Shell’s contribution, along with the support of other project partners, resulted in a total donation of 6,000 euros to a Heerenveen hospice and 10,000 euros to a local food bank in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen.
