GlobalData: Shell leads with most long-term LNG contracts in 2022

United Kingdom – With a contracted capacity of 6.7 million tonnes annually (mtpa), Shell dominated the global long-term LNG import contract volumes signed by significant purchasing corporations in 2022, according to GlobalData.

The largest long-term contract signed by Shell in 2022 was for 2.6 mtpa of natural gas with Mexico Pacific Limited, according to the study “Long-Term LNG Contracts Review Analytics by Region, Contracts and Companies, 2022” by GlobalData. While Chevron and ExxonMobil went into agreements to import 3.0 mtpa of LNG each, ENN Group took second place by securing contracts for a capacity of 3.3 mtpa.

Seller businesses

With a total of 11.0 mtpa, Venture Global LNG signed the most long-term LNG contracts among the seller businesses. With 7.9 mtpa and 6.3 mtpa, respectively, Energy Transfer Partners LP and NextDecade Corporation come in second and third.
