Belgium – BASF has commissioned a new alkyl ethanol-amines production plant at its Antwerp site. This new plant increases the German company’s annual production capacity for alkyl ethanolamines by almost thirty percent to 140,000 tons per year.

Basf also produces the substances including dimethyl ethanolamine (DMEOA) and methyl diethanolamine (MDEOA) in Ludwigshafen, in Geismar in the U.S. and in Nanjing in China. Alkyl ethanolamines are used as percursors for gas treatment chemicals, flocculants in water treatment and as binders in the coatings industry, among others.
