Wystrach and Hexagon Purus join forces

Hydrogen

Germany/Norway Wystrach will be acquired by Hexagon Purus, the world leader in zero-emission mobility. The combination of experience and capacity creates the market leader in hydrogen storage solutions.

Hexagon Purus is the market leader in high-pressure hydrogen type 4 cylinders, fuel storage and distribution systems, as well as battery pack and electric motor solutions for commercial vehicles. The company has been developing composite high-pressure technology and clean fuel systems for more than 50 years. Kassel, Germany is home to the company’s European cylinder manufacturing factory.

Wystrach is a metalworking company that specializes in the fabrication of steel structures and pipes for hydrogen cylinder systems. It has positioned itself as an industry innovator by inventing and manufacturing end-to-end industrial gas and hydrogen transport and storage solutions.

Complementary expertise

The acquisition brings complementary expertise together. Wystrach will be the primary assembly center for Hexagon Purus’ hydrogen systems, based in Weeze, Germany, while cylinder production will continue at Hexagon Purus’ site in Kassel, Germany. They collaborate to provide best-in-class experience and capacity in the rapidly increasing hydrogen sector, thereby accelerating the energy transition.

Both companies have a long track record of successful partnership. Hexagon Purus and Wystrach, both pioneers in high-pressure technology, have pushed to make climate-friendly hydrogen applications a part of everyday life. Since 2008, Hexagon Purus has been supplying Wystrach with high-performance cylinders for use in a variety of applications, including transportation, tank systems, stationary storage, and refueling solutions.

The transaction is scheduled to close in the fourth quarter of 2021, subject to certain closing conditions being met and normal regulatory clearances being obtained.
