Unigel and thyssenkrupp nucera expand green hydrogen plant capacity

Hydrogen

Brazil – German thyssenkrupp nucera and Unigel have agreed to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will boost the water electrolysis capacity of the green hydrogen plant Unigel is building in Bahia, Brazil, from 60 MW to 240 MW.

During the visit of Dr. Robert Habeck, the German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, the signing ceremony took place in Belo Horizonte.

The facility built by Unigel will be Brazil’s first large-scale green hydrogen plant. The delivery is anticipated by the year’s conclusion. The facility will initially be able to produce 10,000 tons of green hydrogen and 60,000 tons of green ammonia annually with a total water electrolysis capacity of 60 MW using thyssenkrupp nucera standard electrolyzers. One of South America’s biggest chemical firms, Unigel is also Brazil’s top manufacturer of nitrogen fertilizers. The development of the surrounding area will benefit greatly from the new factory.

Germany-Brazil cooperation

In order to improve economic ties and climate cooperation with Brazil and Colombia, Federal Minister Dr. Robert Habeck is visiting both countries. Brazil and Colombia are important nations for preserving the environment. The EEBA (German-Brazilian Business Meeting) for this year will be held in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, where Federal Minister Dr. Robert Habeck will meet with leaders in business and politics.
