UK and UAE explore hydrogen collaboration

Hydrogen

United KingdomAs part of a joint commitment between the World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO) and Zest Associates, a new research paper will investigate potential green hydrogen collaborations between the UAE and the UK.

The report, sponsored by HSBC, will seek to identify mutual opportunities to accelerate the development of the UAE and UK clean hydrogen markets. Business leaders, industry associations, policymakers, innovators, and academics from both countries will be involved in the research.

The research paper will look at opportunities for collaboration and partnerships in the green hydrogen space between the two countries. It will map innovation priorities, profile hydrogen companies, and examine how policy and regulatory collaboration between the UAE and the UK can facilitate trade, encourage foreign direct investment, and ensure hydrogen’s low carbon credentials.

Stakeholder meetings and workshops will be held as part of the report’s research to test and validate findings. In the first half of 2022, there will also be a panel discussion on the report’s findings.

The report will also support Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai’s Net Zero Emissions Strategy 2050, which aim to provide 100 percent of energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.
