Stellantis to buy stake in Symbio hydrogen mobility pioneer

Hydrogen

The Netherlands – Stellantis and Faurecia, a member of the Group FORVIA, are in exclusive talks for Stellantis to buy a sizable part in Symbio, a pioneer in zero-emission hydrogen mobility.

Mid-size vans from Stellantis, a pioneer and market leader in hydrogen transportation, were introduced in late 2021. As part of the Dare Forward 2030 strategy plan, the Company is pursuing an ambitious goal that involves extending its hydrogen supply to large vans as early as 2024 in Europe and 2025 in the United States and further investigating potential for heavy-duty vehicles.

HyMotive

By accelerating industrialisation and disruptive innovation, Symbio unveiled the HyMotive project in October 2022. By 2028, the project’s total production capacity in France will reach 100,000 systems per year, creating 1,000 new employment. Symbio will be able to advance its development by leveraging Stellantis’ dominance in the European and American automotive markets as a result of this transaction.

The transaction is anticipated to close in the first semester of 2023, subject to the usual closing requirements, such as regulatory approvals.
