New Dutch hydrogen refueling station supplying buses

Hydrogen

The Netherlands – Connexxion’s fleet of 20 hydrogen buses, which are co-funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership as part of the JIVE 2 project, are now being refueled at the new heavy-duty hydrogen refueling station in Heinenoord.

Zuid-Holland, Hoeksche Waard, Connexxion, and Everfuel all worked together to build and operate the station, which is located in the middle of the Zuid-Holland province.

Future ready

In a redundant set-up, the station can accommodate more than 50 fuel cell buses. In the future, the station can be expanded to fuel other fuel cell vehicles, such as trucks. The province of Zuid-Holland, which aims to provide zero-emission public transportation by 2030, has taken a major step forward with this announcement. Green hydrogen produced in the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark will be supplied to the station by Everfuel for a minimum of 12 years.

Fuel cell buses were refueled with hydrogen by Connexxion and the Everfuel station was opened to the public with a behind-the-scenes tour by Everfuel.
