Lhyfe to develop German green hydrogen plant

Hydrogen

Germany – In the German state of Baden-Wurttemberg, Lhyfe plans to build a 10-MW green hydrogen plant to supply nearby industrial customers.

The city of Schwäbisch Gmünd has given its approval for the project to begin construction on a 10,000-square-meter industrial site. A renewable green hydrogen production site with a capacity of up to 4 tonnes/day (10 MW), as well as a publicly accessible hydrogen filling station and a pipeline, will be built to supply renewable hydrogen to the future “H2-Aspen” technology park. Early in 2024, the plant is expected to be operational.

Hydrogen ramp-up

A connection to a wind farm and photovoltaic installations will provide the electricity required for the production of renewable hydrogen. Customers for this project will be found in the immediate vicinity of the site as well as in the surrounding area. At distribution stations, the hydrogen will be used as a process gas for industrial customers and as a fuel for fuel cell vehicles.

In many European countries, Lhyfe is working on a rapid ramp-up of the green hydrogen market. In Germany, several projects have already been announced, including Deutsche Bahn and Siemens Mobility’s participation in the H2goesRail project.

This agreement enables Lhyfe to continue actively developing this project in Germany, with the next step being to secure dedicated funding.
