Finland – Wärtsilä will offer the front-end engineering design (FEED) for liquefied synthetic methane (LSM) storage.
Koppö Energia Oy, a partnership between CPC Finland Oy and Germany’s Prime Green Energy Infrastructure Fund, will construct the plant in Kristinestad, Finland. Wärtsilä will reserve the FEED in Q3, 2023.
Power-to-X
Leading Finnish sustainable energy transition project is the Power-to-X plant. It will be 200 MW in size and produce sustainable LSM and hydrogen from green electricity. To provide the plant with entirely emission-free renewable energy, the Koppö Energy Cluster will create up to 500 MW of wind and 100 MW of photovoltaic power.
LSM will be created from the green hydrogen produced in Kristinestad and utilized as a sustainable fuel for heavy transportation. Beginning in 2024 is when the investment decision for the facility is anticipated to be made. The project received the Power-to-X Innovation Award earlier this year at the Tamarindo Global Wind Investment Awards ceremony.
